A Wish For Whisper

Whisper lives in a circus. Even though she's just a cub, the lion tamer already starts teaching her tricks. Whisper's heart is sore. She doesn't want to do tricks like Mama and be in a cage. Mama tells Whisper that they come from Africa and were born to be free. They are rescued from the circus and taken to South Africa. There they are free to climb trees and roll in the grass.

Wendy's first children's book was published in 2005 when she was a foundation phase teacher. In 2007, she bid farewell to teaching and became a full-time writer. Since then, she has written over 50 books for children and is considered one of the most successful children's book authors in South Africa. She resides in the Overberg with her cat and parrot. She enjoys gardening, bokkoms (salted and dried fish), figs, home-baked bread, and walking barefoot.
