Theresa Papenfus was born in Villiersdorp, Western Cape, South Africa. She is a graduate of Stellenbosch University and started her career as a journalist at one of South Africa's leading Afrikaans newspapers. In the early 1990's she became a publisher at one of the oldest South African publishing houses and started her own house, Litera Pulications in 2000 in Pretoria. She is a published author of essays, sketches and short stories.
